Manchester City Vs Manchester United

Manchester City close in on treble with derby win

Phil Foden double helps City beat Manchester United 2-1

City now just one game away from completing the treble

Manchester City moved to within one game of completing the treble after a 2-1 victory over Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.

Phil Foden scored twice in the first half to put City in control, and although Anthony Martial pulled one back for United after the break, it was not enough to prevent Pep Guardiola's side from reaching the final.

City are now just one game away from completing the treble, having already won the Premier League and Carabao Cup this season. They will face either Liverpool or Brighton in the FA Cup final on May 28.

For United, the defeat was a disappointing end to their season. They had hoped to reach the FA Cup final and win a trophy, but they were outplayed by a better City side on the day.

City were dominant from the start, and they took the lead in the 11th minute when Foden swept home a cross from Riyad Mahrez. Foden doubled City's lead in the 29th minute with a fine individual goal, dribbling past two United defenders before firing into the bottom corner.

United pulled one back in the 50th minute when Martial converted a penalty after Luke Shaw was fouled by Aymeric Laporte. However, City held on to secure the victory and book their place in the final.

City are now the strong favorites to win the treble, and they will be confident of beating either Liverpool or Brighton in the FA Cup final.
