Game Informer Announces Closure

GI to Cease Publication After 33 Years

Website and Podcast to Continue Operation

Game Informer, the popular video game magazine and website, announced Friday that it will be closing its doors after 33 years in print.

The announcement was made in a statement on the Game Informer website, which said that the magazine's final issue will be published in December 2023. The website and podcast will continue to operate, but the magazine will no longer be published.

"This was not an easy decision," said Andy McNamara, Editor-in-Chief of Game Informer, in the statement. "We have been incredibly fortunate to have such a loyal and passionate group of readers over the years, and we are grateful for their support."

Game Informer was first published in 1991 and quickly became one of the leading video game magazines in the United States. The magazine is known for its in-depth reviews, previews, and features, as well as its coverage of the latest news and trends in the video game industry.

The closure of Game Informer is a sign of the changing times in the media industry. As more and more people get their news and information online, print magazines have struggled to compete. In recent years, several other video game magazines have closed their doors, including Electronic Gaming Monthly and GamePro.

Despite the closure of the magazine, Game Informer's website and podcast will continue to operate, providing fans with the latest news and coverage of the video game industry.
