Chiefs Punch Ticket to AFC Championship Game with 23-13 Preseason Victory over Jaguars
Kansas City Extends AFC Title Streak to Five
Preview: Mahomes and Lawrence Headline Preseason Clash
AUGUST 12, 2024, JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Jacksonville Jaguars kicked off their 2024 NFL preseason with a hard-fought 23-13 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at EverBank Stadium. In a game featuring two of the league's brightest young quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes and Trevor Lawrence, the Chiefs ultimately emerged victorious to extend their AFC Championship Game streak to five.
Mahomes, playing on an injured ankle, threw for 195 yards and two touchdowns, including a 30-yard strike to returning star Travis Kelce in the second quarter. The Jaguars' defense put up a valiant effort, but the Chiefs' offense proved too much to handle in the end.
Lawrence, making his first preseason start for Jacksonville, had a solid outing, completing 17 of 28 passes for 165 yards. However, the Jaguars' offense struggled to find consistency, and they were unable to capitalize on several opportunities in the red zone.
